Job Description
Overview Inkwell Montessori is seeking a warm, dependable, and Spanish-speaking Bilingual Assistant Guide to join our Primary classroom for children ages 2.5-6. We are a new Montessori school in Somerville offering authentic Montessori, Spanish immersion, daily movement, and a culturally sustaining learning environment for young children. This is a full-time role for someone who enjoys working with young children, is fluent in Spanish, and is curious about Montessori education. Prior Montessori experience is welcome but not required. We are looking for someone who is open to learning, comfortable supporting classroom routines, and excited to grow with our school. For the right person, this role has the potential to expand into a Lead Guide position within one year, with support toward deeper Montessori practice and classroom leadership. Duties Support children ages 2.5-6 in the Montessori classroom with care, patience, and respect. Assist the Lead Guide and Head of School with classroom routines, transitions, materials, outdoor time, lunch, rest, and daily activities. Speak Spanish with children as part of our Spanish immersion environment. Serve as the lead educator for aftercare, including planning and guiding a calm, joyful, and developmentally appropriate afternoon program. Create a warm aftercare rhythm that may include outdoor play, art, movement, stories, practical life activities, music, and open-ended play. Support children's independence, social-emotional development, practical life skills, and positive relationships throughout the full day. Help maintain a calm, clean, beautiful, and organized classroom and aftercare environment. Communicate professionally and warmly with children, families, and team members, including during afternoon pickup. Observe children and learn how to support their growth within a Montessori environment. Participate in training, planning, and reflection as part of a growing school community. Grow into greater classroom leadership over time, with the possibility of expanding into a Lead Guide role within one year for the right match.
