The SSC will play a pivotal role in guiding youth towards developing essential skills and tools for self-accountability and personal advancement. Additionally, the SSC will actively facilitate connections among youth, aiding them in overcoming social and emotional challenges. Ensuring student retention will be a core responsibility of the SSC, along with active participation in school community events. Moreover, the SSC will actively contribute to the expansion of the organization's programs and services. This role entails reporting to both the Program Assistant and Program Manager, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
Responsibilities:
Foster a culture of transparency, open communication, and collaboration across the organization Build and maintain positive, mission-aligned relationships with staff, interns, volunteers, students, and families Participate in school community activities and collaborate with team members to address youth and family resource needs Stay informed and up to date on all program policies, procedures, safety plans, incident reports, and weekly program updates Support transportation needs when requested by Mentoring Mentors staff (Valid Driver's License Required) Maintain confidentiality in accordance with organizational policies and HIPAA regulations Demonstrate professionalism in managing stressful situations, conflict resolution, and team collaboration Perform additional duties and tasks as requested by the Program Manager or School Coordinator Student Success & Mentorship Lead and oversee daily program activities for students, ensuring structure and engagement Provide consistent, meaningful mentoring to middle and high school students Support student participation in enrichment, academic, and leadership development sessions Track and document student attendance, goal progress, and developmental milestones Assist, monitor, and support individuals with physical, behavioral, developmental, or mental health challenges Communicate regularly with program staff to address student needs, provide updates, and celebrate achievements Guide students through life skills and decision-making topics aligned with their individual growth Fundraising Coordination Assist to plan and organize logistics for youth-led fundraising events and initiatives, including timelines, materials, permissions, and venues Coach students through the development, execution, and reflection of fundraising campaigns Ensure all youth fundraising activities comply with safety protocols and organizational procedures Collaborate with staff to align fundraising goals with student leadership development Professional Qualifications:
Must have a High School Diploma Must be proficent in Google Workspace or Microsoft (Required) Current college student seeking a Bachelor's degree: Education, Psychology, Human Services, Business, Social Work (preferred) Must be available for periodic meetings during the week, evenings or weekends. Have experience leading conversations that intentionally promote youth support, engagement, encouragement, peace and safety among equity, social justice, racial justice, and service to others. Self-directed, anticipating opportunities and challenges before they arise and proactively tackling those issues with minimal supervision; exercise considerable initiative, discretion and judgment in executing the functions of the job. Competent decision-making with excellent leadership. Work with staff, interns, volunteers and students at various educational levels. Maintain confidentiality, manage multiple priorities, and project a professional image to external contacts. Communicate and empathize with individuals of diverse backgrounds. Energetic and comfortable working among diverse communities; high degree of effective customer service skills; field instruction experience preferred. Demonstrates professionalism and understands the chain of command and delegation of responsibility. Strong organization and time management. Must be able to work independently.
