Job Description

The Sheppard Pratt School in Cumberland is a nonpublic special education day school dedicated to providing year-round educational, vocational, and daily living services to students in grades K-12. Our focus lies in supporting students with emotional disabilities and autism, empowering them to succeed academically and beyond. You will assess students' vocational interests and prepare them for post-graduation based on an understanding of their developmental needs.
Specific responsibilities include:
Preparing the transition component of the individualized education plan (IEP) for students in the program. Serving as a resource for students and their families/caregivers regarding post-secondary planning, including scholarship and financial aid applications, and connecting them with relevant agencies. Developing transition portfolios for students. Assisting in tracking and managing student service-learning hours and Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) graduation requirements as appropriate. What you'll get from us. Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors, including but not limited to, years and level of related experience. What we need from you. One of the following combinations of education and experience: Master's degree in counseling, psychology, or a related field and experience working with behaviorally challenged adolescents. Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience. MSDE Initial Professional License (IPL) is preferred.
