Job Description

Garrison Forest School is seeking an experienced, creative and dynamic individual for a full-time faculty position in our Middle School as the Learning Specialist and Curriculum Coordinator commencing August 2026. The Learning Specialist and Curriculum Coordinator is part of the Middle School Administrative Team, working closely with the Head of the Middle School, Dean of Students, Counselor, and Digital Learning Specialist along with specialists in the Boyce Center for Learning and Thriving. The candidate will be joining a community of collegial faculty members working together to build a hands-on, relevant curriculum that delivers a high quality program. Ideal candidates will be interested in preparing our students to live and work in a global and multicultural society. A desire to contribute to the leadership and scholarship of young women are important qualities for this position, as well as an ability to build positive, constructive relationships with students. The annual salary range for this position is $55,000-$75,000 based on years of experience and education level; the exact compensation will be discussed during the hiring process.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Garrison Forest Middle School seeks a full-time Learning Specialist and Curriculum Coordinator who can support and promote the mission and philosophy of the School. Duties and responsibilities will include the following: Work closely with students both individually and in small groups to offer additional academic support and enrichment. This may take the form of teaching a study skills class, a strategies class for students with educational testing, or simply meeting with students during study halls and free periods. Work alongside faculty members to help plan and implement a variety of strategies in the classroom in order to appropriately support and challenge all students. Support the Head of the Middle School with teacher development and instructional strategies Read and analyze psychological/neurological testing results and identify appropriate accommodations and supports Maintain knowledge of current best practices and educational trends, including technological integration and formative standardized testing and share with faculty. Teach a variety of Additional Tutoring and Learning Support (ATLAS) classes Work on the Middle School Administrative team to build a meaningful learning experience for students. Work alongside grade level teams to build cross-curricular connections and interdisciplinary projects. Serve on the Academic Success Team and collaborate with Lower & Upper School Learning Specialists & the Boyce Center for Learning & Thriving Contribute to the life of the School by chaperoning one weekend activity for the Residential Life program, and additional opportunities as a coach or faculty advisor to co-curricular activities Create a secure and stimulating environment in which students grow in both autonomy and the ability to work and interact together Take responsibility for being a role model by maintaining an environment that fosters respect among students and colleagues Possess strong communication skills, a patient and thorough understanding of early adolescence and the ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues Qualifications B.A. degree or equivalent - Master's degree preferred. Prior experience working with children in an academic setting GFS seeks candidates who will contribute to and are committed to diversity and multicultural educational practices. Demonstrated ability working in a diverse community is essential.
