Hold an earned Master of Social Work degree or its equivalent or higher from an accredited college or university recognized by the Council for Higher Education (CHEA) or the U.S. Department of Education (USDE); and Hold a current Preliminary School Social Worker Certificate from the Michigan Department of Education; and Hold a valid Limited Master Social Worker License (LLMSW) or valid Master Social Worker License (LMSW) issued by the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) Experience in school social work preferred Knowledge of State of Michigan and Federal Rules and Regulations regarding Special Education and Section 504 including special education eligibility process/evaluations and individualized education program (IEP) planning Knowledge of seclusion and restraint procedures, emergency intervention plans and crisis de-escalation Ability to collaborate with staff in planning education intervention and behavior management Proactive in supporting general education students, special education students, and staff Demonstrated high level of enthusiasm and willingness to share with others Experience leading functional behavior assessments and positive support planning for individual students Trauma-informed care experience preferred Coordinate or serve as a member of evaluation teams, child study, and other teams coordinating the support of educational planning and student success Administer appropriate assessments (BASC, BERS, SEARs, Connors, etc.), interpret results, and provide implications and recommendations Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills for building an environment of trust and a common instructional focus Evidence of high standards of ethics, honesty, and integrity in personal and professional matters Ongoing communication and collaboration with families on student progress Knowledge of community resources and ability to serve as a liaison between school, parents, students, and outside resourcesREPORTS TO

Cedar Springs Public Schools is a Preschool through 12th-grade public school consisting of over 3,000 students and nearly 400 employees. We are located within the city limits of Cedar Springs, Michigan in Kent County. Cedar Springs Public Schools is one of 20 member public school districts within the Kent Intermediate School District (KISD). We are unique in that our schools are all located within a single campus setting with the exception of the Middle School which is located 1 mile south of the main campus. The setting is secure, picturesque, and allows easy access for families participating in activities for more than one child.
