Job Description

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, active Social Worker license and minimum 1+ years School Social Work experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students and families by providing essential support as a Social Worker within an educational setting. This contract opportunity, located in a friendly community near Coldwater, Michigan, spans from late August 2026 through early June 2027, with a consistent 35 hours per week. Utilize your expertise to promote student well-being, collaboration, and educational success. You'll work with school staff, students, and families to address a variety of social, emotional, and behavioral needs, helping every child access the resources necessary for a positive educational experience.
Desired Qualifications:
Valid state licensure or certification as a School Social Worker. Previous experience within school settings, preferably supporting K-12 students. Deep understanding of social-emotional development and crisis intervention strategies. Strong interpersonal skills, cultural competence, and the ability to build rapport quickly. Experience in crafting and executing interventions for at-risk youth. Familiarity with IEPs, 504 plans, and compliance with all relevant laws and school policies.
Primary Responsibilities:
Conduct assessments to identify student needs and develop appropriate intervention plans. Support students facing challenges such as trauma, family changes, or behavioral issues. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to promote students' academic and emotional growth. Facilitate small group and one-on-one counseling sessions. Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and community agencies. Maintain accurate records and comply with reporting requirements.
