Job Description

Category Schools - Social Worker Job Type Contract Make a significant impact in the lives of students as a Mental Health Specialist for the 2025/2026 academic year. This contract position offers a meaningful opportunity to work directly with general education students, providing group and individual social-emotional support, and collaborating with school staff to implement positive behavioral programs and enrich classroom environments.
Key Qualifications:
Master's degree and current LARA license are required. More information about Michigan licensing is available online.
Accepted credentials include:
Licensed or limited licensed master's level psychologist (with proper supervision) MDE credentialed master's level school psychologist Licensed or limited licensed master's level school social worker (with supervision if limited) Licensed bachelor social worker (must be enrolled, or plan to enroll, in a master's program within 24 months of hire) Licensed master's level marriage and family therapist Licensed or limited licensed master's level professional counselor (with appropriate supervision) School Counselor License, Michigan Teaching Certificate with School Counselor endorsement, Preliminary or Temporary School Counselor credentials (with commitment to pursue LARA licensure within 24 months if necessary)
Responsibilities:
Provide direct social-emotional support to students through individual and group counseling. Offer professional learning for staff and consult on school-wide best practices in student wellness. Develop, implement, and monitor positive behavior support initiatives. Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and families to address student needs holistically.
