Job Description

Category Schools - Social Worker Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference as a School Social Worker supporting K-12 students for the 2026-2027 academic year. This contract opportunity involves a 35-hour workweek, providing vital intervention and guidance to special education students in both group and individual settings. The position is based near Davison, MI, with additional opportunities available in Grand Blanc, Lansing, and Detroit.
Key Qualifications:
Master's degree (MSW) from an accredited college or university Current LARA license required Fully licensed SW or MSW Limited License accepted Must hold one of the following: Preliminary School Social Worker Certificate (PSSWC), Professional School Social Worker Certificate (PSWC), or School Social Worker Permit (SSWP) Official university transcripts and MDE SW approval required upon application Prior experience working with K-12 special education students preferred Comfortable providing onsite services
Primary Responsibilities:
Identify, assess, and evaluate the behavioral, social, and emotional needs of special education students Design and implement individualized behavior management plans Provide group and one-on-one counseling sessions to eligible students Collaborate closely with teachers, administrators, and community partners to promote overall student wellbeing and academic success Attend IEP meetings, conduct student assessments, and participate in parent conferences to coordinate effective support Assist families through education and advocacy, including conducting home visits to strengthen school-family relationships Respond to crisis situations, and report and address cases of child abuse or neglect as mandated In this role, you'll play a vital part in creating positive outcomes for students and families while working in a supportive environment.
