Job Description

Category Schools - Social Worker Job Type Contract Make a difference in the lives of young learners as a School Social Worker in an elementary setting. This full-time contract position offers the rewarding opportunity to support students during a colleague's leave from September 8th through December. Situated near Detroit, MI, you'll play a vital role guiding and advocating for children during a critical period in their educational journey. Ideal candidates will bring expertise and compassion to the school community, ensuring students and families feel heard, respected, and supported.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited program Current licensure or certification to practice as a School Social Worker in Michigan Prior experience in an elementary school setting is preferred Strong knowledge of child development, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed care Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities Demonstrated ability to develop trust and rapport with students, staff, and families
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individual and group counseling to students addressing academic, social, and emotional needs Assess student concerns and develop action plans in coordination with teachers and administrators Collaborate with families, educators, and outside agencies to connect children and families to available resources Intervene in crisis situations and help facilitate restorative practices Participate in the development and implementation of IEPs and 504s as needed Advocate for a positive, inclusive school climate by promoting social-emotional learning and equity If you're passionate about making a positive, lasting impact on elementary students and eager to use your skills in a supportive, collaborative environment, we'd love to hear from you! to become a key support for students and staff this fall.
