In this position, you'll provide crucial intervention support to special education students, guiding them in both small groups and one-on-one settings to foster social, emotional, and behavioral growth.
What You'll Bring:
Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited college or university Fully licensed School Social Worker or a Limited License in Social Work (MSW-LLSW) Valid LARA license and MDE School Social Worker Approval Hold at least one: Preliminary School Social Worker Certificate (PSSWC), Professional School Social Worker Certificate (PSWC), or School Social Worker Permit (SSWP) Experience working within K-12 populations, with an emphasis on special education Confidence working onsite, building direct relationships with students and staff Strong collaboration skills supporting diverse school teams and families Ability to provide official university transcripts upon request
Key Responsibilities:
Identify and assess the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of special education students Design and implement targeted behavior management and intervention plans Collaborate with educators and community organizations to support student learning and well-being Provide individual and group counseling services addressing emotional and behavioral challenges Participate actively in IEP meetings, student assessments, and parent conferences Engage parents through direct communication and, when necessary, home visits to maximize family involvement in student success Report cases of child abuse/neglect and deploy crisis intervention strategies as required Embrace the opportunity to make a positive difference during the school year, gaining valuable experience and professional growth in an environment dedicated to student well-being.
