Job Description

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, active Social Worker license and minimum 1+ years School Social Work experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Make a positive impact as a School Social Worker supporting K-12 students in a dynamic school environment near Flint, MI. This contract opportunity spans the 2026-2027 academic year (August 17 - June 11) with a steady 35-hour workweek. As a valued member of the team, collaborate directly with educators, administrators, and families to foster meaningful progress and well-being for special education students.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution required Possession of a fully licensed SW or MSW Limited License Active LARA license and MDE School Social Work approval Hold at least one of the following: Preliminary School Social Worker Certificate (PSSWC), Professional School Social Worker Certificate (PSWC), or School Social Worker Permit (SSWP) Comfortable working onsite in Flint or surrounding areas (Grand Blanc, Lansing, Detroit) Commitment to providing support both in small group/individual settings for K-12 special education students Ability to supply official university transcripts upon request
Responsibilities:
Identify, assess, and evaluate the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of special education students Develop and implement intervention and behavior management plans Consult with general and special education teachers, providing case management for students requiring multiple services Provide both individual and group counseling to address emotional, behavioral, and social needs Participate in IEP meetings, student assessments, and parent conferences Partner with parents through communication and, when needed, home visits to strengthen school-family relationships Identify and report potential child abuse or neglect, and conduct crisis intervention as necessary This is an onsite role based in a supportive school community, offering the rewarding chance to shape student success every day.
