The effort to end the crisis of domestic abuse and sexual violence is complex and consequently, the YWCA's approach is multi-faceted. It includes an array of prevention and intervention services, as well as active participation in local, regional, and statewide collaborations. GENERAL SUMMARY
Under general supervision, provides advocacy, safety planning, crisis assistance and service coordination to domestic violence and sexual assault survivors in the YWCA's Advocacy and Resource Services, with the goal of empowering victims of violence to achieve safety and have access to YWCA and community resources that will further their safety and healing. In order for the above services to be available in Spanish and English, we prefer that an individual fluent in Spanish fill this position. A Spanish speaker would also provide Spanish language support for other staff in all other YWCA programming, including community presentations and activities, when requested. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in human service or related field or high school diploma and minimal three year's experience working with domestic violence, and/or home intervention programs. The ability to conduct advocacy in English and Spanish fluently is preferred. Exhibit working knowledge of computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and exhibit ability to utilize electronic case management system. Excellent assessment, organizational, listening, empathy and problem solving skills required. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to communicate with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds. Ability to convey, endorse and enforce the guidelines, policies and/or procedures of the YWCA West Central Michigan.
