Job Description

Reports to:
Childcare Director Role Description:
The Family Engagement Coordinator (FEC) plays a crucial role in fostering strong relationships between New Genesis and the community. This position is responsible for implementing family engagement activities, recruiting families for our programs, and ensuring a seamless enrollment process. The FEC will work closely with the Childcare Director, and community agencies to maximize referrals and minimize vacancies.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time, in-person position. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, nine (9) hours per day with a one (1) hour unpaid lunch break. Flex time may be available to help ensure total weekly hours do not exceed 40. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required to support scheduled events. This position is not eligible for remote work.
Key Responsibilities:
Family Engagement:
Develop and implement family engagement events and activities, such as workshops, volunteer opportunities, and family-oriented initiatives. Cultivate parental interest in their children's school activities through the Parent Advisory Committee and family engagement events. Create and track family engagement objectives and milestones.
Door Greeter/Attendance:
Responsible for monitoring and securing the facility entrance during student arrival and dismissal times. Morning coverage is from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., and evening coverage is from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Each Family Coordinator (FC) is responsible for covering their assigned shift. In the event of absence or vacation, the FC must coordinate coverage with another FC. After 5:30 p.m., all remaining students are directed to the FC. The FC must contact families regarding late pick-up and notify the Childcare Director the following day so that applicable late fees can be assessed. Maintain accurate daily attendance records using Brightwheel and follow up with families regarding student absences.
Recruitment and Enrollment:
Identify and recruit families and children for all New Genesis programs, ensuring that enrollment levels meet program requirements. Complete a Basic Needs Assessment for all enrolled families at the beginning of the program year. Conduct follow-up with families throughout the year to monitor progress and ensure families are working toward identified goals. Conduct outreach activities to recruit prospective families. Facilitate the enrollment and registration process for new children, including phone calls, intakes, eligibility, scheduling orientations, and completing necessary documentation. Assist in creating and maintaining the enrollment and registration system, procedures, and policy. Work with the health consultant to ensure all children's health assessment information is in compliance and on file. Assist Childcare Directors in maintaining a waiting list of interested children.
Community Partnerships:
Develop and maintain a "Family Resource Guide" and "Family Resource Room" by collaborating with community agencies. Identify any special needs or concerns during the intake process and report them to the supervisor. Participate in marketing initiatives to recruit new families.
Administration:
Manage reporting as required by the Executive Director. Family Engagement Reports sent to Childcare Director after each event. See Attachment Use a variety of communication approaches with parents that are culturally sensitive and respectful. Maintain a professional attitude and work cooperatively with all staff and parents. Follow all center policies and state regulations. Maintain required records and documentation for grant compliance. Develop and maintain a personal professional development plan.
Additional Responsibilities:
Follow-ups with newly enrolled families. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of three (3) years of direct experience working with families, preferably in case management, life coaching, social services, or a related support role.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting low-income families and understanding the unique challenges they face.
  • Strong background in family engagement, goal setting, resource coordination, and advocacy.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and technology skills.
  • Ability to operate with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative, sound judgment, and discretion.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional telephone manner with a strong command of the English language.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to proactively identify challenges and implement practical solutions.
  • Responsible, enthusiastic, and committed to working in a mission-focused organization.
  • Willingness to be held accountable, receive feedback, and continuously improve.
  • Must successfully clear a full background check.
Pay:
Salary $42,000-48,000
