Director of Special Education or designated supervisor 2026-2027 School Year Position Summary A School Social Worker provides problem solving services to children and their families. Serves as a member of multidisciplinary diagnostic teams and educational planning and placement committees. Provides biological, psychological and sociological assessment information. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Performs casework services to correct personal, social and/or emotional maladjustments. 2. Coordinates, or serves as a member on, diagnostic teams, behavioral and educational planning, and placement committees. 3. Consults and collaborates with other personnel in gathering and providing information and in establishing and planning roles for the modification of students' behaviors. 4. Assists in developing, gathering, analyzing data and monitoring student response to interventions. 5. Performs casework services with parents in order to help students and to increase parents' understanding, knowledge, and participation in educational planning.. 6. Makes home visits in order to gather information about students' backgrounds. 7. Offers support to ESA classrooms and local districts as appropriate. 8. Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with all staff, families, local districts and community agencies. 9. Completes the appropriate documentation, paperwork and progress reports in a timely manner (MET, IEP, Goals, BIP, FBAP, Reports, Medicaid Billing, etc…). 10. Attends department and district staff meetings and professional development as appropriate. 11. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive student information. 12. Performs related work as requested. Qualification Requirements 1. Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university. 2. Full accreditation and certification as a School Social Worker. 3. Completion of one year of successful experience as a School Social Worker under the direction of a fully-approved School Social Worker. 4. Possess sensitivity to and interest in the needs of individuals with disabilities. 5. Ability to work independently and to establish and maintain effective scheduling. 6. Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively work with students, parents, staff, other agencies and the general public. 7. Computer literacy, including the ability to word process, utilize software applications and use electronic mail.
SALARY:
Salary and benefits in accordance with Master Agreement Physical Demands and Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, see and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Frequent travel may be required. Noise levels are typically low to moderate.
