Job Description

Category Schools - Social Worker Job Type Contract Apply your passion for student well-being as a Mental Health Specialist supporting K-12 learners for the 2025-2026 academic year. Based in Lapeer County, this contract opportunity offers the chance to make a meaningful impact by providing targeted social-emotional support in a school environment. You'll work closely with general education students—both individually and in groups—addressing their needs and contributing to positive school climates through collaborative initiatives.
Key Qualifications:
Master's degree or higher in psychology, social work, counseling, or marriage and family therapy Current and valid LARA license as required for your discipline Acceptable credentials also include: Limited licensure under supervision; MDE credentialed school psychologist; School Counselor License (SCL); Michigan Teaching Certificate with School Counselor (NT) endorsement; Preliminary or Temporary School Counselor Credentials with plans to meet required licensing within 24 months For Bachelor-level social workers, active LBSW with enrollment in (or intent to enroll in) a master's program within two years
Role Responsibilities:
Deliver individual and group social-emotional interventions to general education students Offer consultation and training for staff, including implementing positive behavior programs and professional learning opportunities Support school buildings as needed in proactive mental health and climate initiatives Collaborate with educators, families, and other specialists to foster student well-being Maintain documentation in alignment with state and district standards This role is a unique chance to shape supportive, inclusive learning environments while further developing your expertise as a school-based mental health professional.
