Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Social Work and MDE approval as a School Social Worker
- Knowledge of State and Federal Rules regarding special education and OCR regulations for Section 504
- Ability to access students for special education eligibility and developing and documenting IEP's
- Ability to work with students both individually and in small group settings
- Proficiency with technology and electronic documentation of student data
- Ability to relate positively with students, parents, staff and administration
- Experience in completing functional behavior assessments and implementing PBSP plans
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Provide therapy to students who have been identified as needing more intensive and ongoing support
- Provide consultation to teachers, administrators, and other professionals regarding the social emotional and behavioral health and needs of students on caseload when appropriate
- Communicate to the parents/guardians of students when necessary to ensure a home-school partnership and for the safety of the students.
- Provide professional development for staff on current mental health and social emotional topics
- Provide parents with information on mental health and social emotional issues affecting their children.
- Keep accurate records as required by law
- Attendance is an essential job function
