The PreK Pyramid and Behavior Consultant serves as a specialized instructional and behavioral support resource across early childhood programs within the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District (OAISD). This position works in close collaboration with local PreK teachers, program administrators, and instructional coach teams to strengthen classroom environments and improve outcomes. The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator and relationship-builder who can serve as a bridge between the ISD and its community-based PreK partners, ensuring consistent, high-fidelity implementation of evidence-based practices across all settings. Essential Job Functions
Create collaborative relationships in order to provide a targeted support to classrooms through PBC cycle including targeted observation, reflection & feedback, shared goal writing & action plans specific to program implementation of the pyramid model and
FBA & PBSP.
Ability to provide varied strategies to best meet the needs of individual staff and teaching teams. Willingness to complete a variety of Professional Learning opportunities, including Practice-Based Coaching, CLASS, SEEDS Literacy Framework, TPOT, ASQ, and others as determined appropriate. Collaboration with local teachers, administrators, and other staff to continue to provide high-quality programming for PreK-aged children across OAISD. Develop and facilitate professional learning and intervention information and materials as needed to support teaching teams and individual children through MTSS and data review processes, including leading professional development sessions for partners on Tier 2 and 3 strategies and behavior supports.
Analyze and synthesize data to improve child and classroom-level outcomes. Ability to analyze data from IEPs, Teaching Strategies Smart Teach (formerly GOLD), LRE rubric, parent reporting, CLASS, TPOT, EC-SWIS, Benchmarks of Quality and observations. Consult and collaborate with the Early Childhood PreK Instructional Coach team to align and cohesively support all programs across the OAISD.
Attending local, statewide, and national Professional Learning as appropriate.
Serve as a liaison between the ISD and PreK partners on pyramid model implementation and behavioral support services.
Intensive behavior coaching around challenging behaviors, at both the program and classroom level.
Partnering closely with administrators and teachers to ensure implementation and fidelity of Tier 1, 2 and 3 strategies.
Other duties as assigned. Education & Experience
A Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development with a Special Education endorsement.
5 or more years relevant job experience in early childhood education.
Experience supporting children with IEPs in General Education classrooms is highly preferred. Experience with Practice-Based Coaching or other coaching frameworks is preferred.
Experience using My Teaching Strategies Smart Teach (formerly Gold) Assessment, Creative Curriculum, PELI Literacy Assessment, and ASQ.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
General knowledge of Special Education, IEPs, and PreK programs including ECSE, ASD, and Head Start.
Strong knowledge of GSRP requirements, policies, and procedures. Knowledge of Michigan Childcare Licensing preferred.
Knowledge and experience with classroom quality tools such as TPOT and CLASS Assessment. Knowledge of PBIS and school leadership teams.
Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
Exceptional organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills. A strong ability to build collaborative professional relationships.
Ability to be flexible and possess strong problem-solving skills. Time management and prioritization skills are needed in order to work on multiple projects at once while prioritizing importance.
Strong knowledge of pyramid model practices and implementation strategies at both the building and classroom level.
Understanding of Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSP) to support individual child level behaviors in community based organizations.
Knowledge to support implementation in Prevent, Teach, Reinforce for Young Children.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
Travel is required between multiple program sites, including community-based organizations, Head Start facilities, and buildings across the OAISD covered region. Ability to move throughout classroom and program environments during observation, coaching, and consultation activities. Work is performed in early childhood settings, which may include exposure to noise levels consistent with environments serving children. Ability to occasionally lift and carry instructional materials weighing up to 25 pounds with or without mechanical assistance. Compensation & Employment Details
Compensation:
Salary range of $71,552-$89,440 commensurate with experience.
Schedule:
Full-time, 195 days per year.
