Aug 24, 2026 Job Description About STMA Schools We are a district that serves over 6,700 students and employs 750+ employees in a northwestern suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Our district consists of one primary school for preschool and kindergarten students, three elementary schools for grades 1-4, two middle schools for grades 5-8, and one high school for grades 9-12. We also have a transition program for our students with disabilities ages 18 to 22. Position Overview & Responsibilities Coordinates delivery of special education programming at the building level, including the successful movement of students in and out of special education services. Serves as an advocate for the student with a special education need. Essential duties and responsibilities include assisting with the implementation and coordination of special education programming in compliance with federal and state requirements, special education program and service leadership, and staff development support. 186 regular contract days and 10 additional add-on days (196 days annually) (plus 2 or 3 days of new-to-district orientation, depending on the Department of Teaching & Learning requirements for this certified contract position) Requirements & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in education and teaching certificate in Special Education as required by the State of Minnesota, Master's degree or equivalent in area of special education recommended. Leadership experience in the area of special education preferred. Dual licensure preferred but not required. Assignments This position is assigned to the middle schools. Special education teachers work by district assignment and may be moved between buildings and/or programs based on student needs, location of certain programs, student count(s), and applicable licensure. Salary Starting salary range = $50,888-$95,857 (inlcudes the 10 add-on days to the base certified staff contract). For more information, please see the Certified Master Contract 2025-2027.
