Family Services Manager-Childrens & Gillette St. Paul (Weekday/Weekend: part-time & flexible)

Mission Ronald McDonald House Charities, Upper Midwest (RMHC-UM) in partnership with our community, provides a comfortable and caring home-away-from-home that supports keeping families together and reduces stress during a child's serious illness or injury. RMHC-UM operates five locations in Minnesota---four in the Twin Cities and one in Duluth, serving over 6,700 families a year, providing 76 overnight rooms, meals and activities for families with kids facing a medical crisis Job Summary The Family Services Manager play a vital role in continuing our mission of providing a welcoming and comforting environment for families who are in midst of a healthcare crisis. Family Services Managers are critical by allowing RMHC-UM to provide caring and compassionate services 365 days a year. Primary Responsibilities Guest/Program Management & Family Programming Assistance - Work closely with the Program staff to maintain smooth operation of facilities including safety and security, inventory management and general maintenance. Maintain space upkeep, assuring community, family rooms and common spaces are inviting, comfortable and functional. Apply guidelines to determining eligibility, communicates with hospital staff, family registration and management of family dynamics Provide oversight of the cleaning to ensure it is maintained to defined standards of cleanliness and maintenance. Work with volunteers, facilities and cleaning staff to ensure common space and guest room turnovers are efficient and complete Frequently communicates and exchanges information both written and verbally with families, volunteers and hospital staff Work closely with Manager and other team members to accurately record and track usage of the program by families and volunteer hours Support Volunteers, Cooks for Kids (CFK) Program & Development Initiatives With guidance from the Assistant Manager, inventory, prepare and serve meals to families Greet, tour, educate and provide task management to volunteers about program services to ensure they have a positive experience while providing services to RMHC Follow up with CFK groups to thank them for participating, and coordinate with them to schedule another date to serve Outreach and development of potential partnership Engage in conversations with donors and volunteers to further RMHC-UM's mission

9:30am-6pm Doors lock at 6pm - availability to stay a little later if & when a volunteer Cooks for Kids group is signed up to serve dinner to families from 5pm-6pm. Clean up only takes 15-30 min & done by the Volunteer group. This is a part time occasional position - we are looking for an individual who has flexibility during the weekday & weekend. We will always remain respectful with personal & professional schedules. Ideally someone who an commit to a minimum 3 shifts a month & Fridays are a bonus. Work Environment Ronald McDonald House Charities, Upper Midwest operates programs within three pediatric hospitals in Minneapolis and St. Paul and one in Duluth, MN. Programs provide services to families who have children receiving inpatient treatment in the hospital. Preferred Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment such as a phone, copy machine and computer printer Experience with or ability to learn software Experience in a fast-paced environment where needs and priorities change quickly and frequently Competencies and Skills Operates as a team player and able to work effectively with all employees and constituents of RMHC-UM Excellent verbal and written skills Relate to people of diverse ages and backgrounds Able to work in a fluid environment with unexpected variations throughout the workday Excellent interpersonal skills Manage details, organize and prioritize tasks Ability to resolve interpersonal conflicts and determine needed components of risk management Maintain confidentiality according to HIPAA and other relevant privacy regulations Takes initiative and persevere through difficult situations Willingness to get involved in the details, hands on, team player who will pitch in where/when needed Compassion, kindness and the ability to work with families facing a health crisis or loss of a child Physical Requirements Perform cleaning tasks such as sanitizing, vacuuming, sweeping, changing sheets, mopping and general cleaning duties when needed Able to lift 50 pounds Prolonged periods standing and walking throughout the House Able to bend, lift, stretch and climb to clean family rooms and common areas The duties and responsibilities described are not a comprehensive list and other duties may be assigned or the scope of the position may change as necessitated by business needs at any time with or without notice.
