TITLE:
SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER QUALIFICATIONS
MN Board of Social Work License. Current MN licensure in School Social Worker. Master's degree in Social Work preferred. Knowledge in child development. General knowledge of current Federal and State special education laws/mandates, including IDEA and section 504 Effective communication skills with individuals and groups. Commitment to the education of all students.

Building Principal / Director of Student Support Services
JOB GOALS
The School Social Worker assists with the coordination of social services for student and their families
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assists in the coordination of social services for students and their families. 2. Assists with the early identification, pre-referral interventions and referrals to special education. 3. Serves as a team member for the school pre-referral/problem solving teams. 4. Provides skills training and other appropriate services as stipulated on special education students' IEPs. 5. Assists in assessments, such as conducting observations, or other assessment functions, as deemed appropriate by assessment planning teams. 6. Collects pertinent background/home information as appropriate. 7. Functions as a district representative at special education team meetings as requested. 8. Facilitate and develop Section 504 plans, as directed by building principals/District 504 coordinator. 9. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with children, their families, teachers, administration, court systems, law enforcement agencies, social service agencies and other helping professionals. 10. Provides individual and small group support to students. 11. Makes community/agency program linkages to assist student and their families. 12. Provides crisis intervention and support as appropriate. 13. Consults with education staff relative to appropriate interventions, techniques, and modifications for students in need. 14. Monitors student attendance and assists with required truancy procedures. 15. Coordinates and develops education programs. 16. Coordinates and develops programs that enhance and promote student social emotional wellbeing. 17. Conducts friendship, social skills, families in transition groups, etc. as determined by each site. 18. Assists with programs and appropriate activities that align with district's core values. 19. Provides additional duties related to social emotional educational programs as assigned by building administration. 20. Maintains and prepares records and reports. 21. Maintains timely and accurate records of services provided, with particular attention to all reimbursable special education activities. 22. Maintains a positive working relationship with principals, teachers and district office administration. 23. Performs other duties as may be reasonably assigned for effective school operation.
