Job Description

The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area. Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Job Summary The Director of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church is a part-time, 12-month salaried position reporting directly to the Pastor. This role leads a growing Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) program serving over 100 children from toddler through Level III. Rooted in a Montessori-based approach to faith formation, the program fosters children's encounter with God through Scripture, liturgy, and hands-on learning. The Director collaborates with parents, staff, catechists, and volunteers to guide children in deepening their relationship with Jesus Christ while creating a welcoming and spiritually rich parish environment.
Job Responsibilities:
Facilitate approximately 10 CGS classes per week and oversee sacramental preparation for children ages 0-12 Lead and support a team of 25+ catechists, assistants, and volunteers in faith formation efforts Recruit, onboard, orient, and provide ongoing formation and development for catechists and atrium assistants Prepare, organize, and maintain CGS materials, including atrium setup and ongoing environment care Manage program budget, tuition collection, and financial oversight Coordinate logistics and facility usage for off-campus program location (currently St. Monica in Creve Coeur) Oversee program communications across multiple platforms (website, bulletin, newsletters) Plan and implement family engagement events to build community within the CGS program Create a nurturing, prayerful environment where children can grow in faith Guide children in prayer, Scripture reflection, and liturgical celebrations Provide individualized support to meet the developmental and spiritual needs of each child Serve as a resource to support other parishes and schools interested in CGS program development
Job Qualifications:
Practicing Catholic with a deep personal commitment to the faith and relationship with God Level III Catechesis of the Good Shepherd formation preferred or willingness to obtain Strong understanding of the Montessori approach to education Prior experience serving as a catechist in a CGS atrium Demonstrated leadership and management experience Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills Ability to collaborate effectively with parents, children, staff, and volunteers Patience, adaptability, and the ability to foster meaningful relationships within a faith community The Archdiocese of St. Louis is an Equal Opportunity Employer and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any kind.
