Do you aspire to spark curiosity and nurture young minds? If so, University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Education, Social Work, and Psychological Sciences' Edgar L. and Rheta A. Berkley Child and Family Development Center (Berkley), located on the UMKC Volker campus, seeks a qualified and enthusiastic Lead Infant Toddler Teacher to join our team (Child Development Teacher). Berkley, established in 1993, is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, inspired by the Schools of Reggio Emilia Approach, and implements a developmentally appropriate play based interactive environment. Curriculum is focused on building relationships between child, teacher, and the family, social emotional learning, group collaboration, creative thinking, and cognitive learning through hands on interactive play environments. In this role, you will: Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement an enriching play-based curriculum. Design engaging learning experiences that ignite curiosity, foster social-emotional development, and celebrate each child's unique strengths. Work closely with families and co-teachers to assess children's progress, document learning journeys, and communicate effectively. Contribute to a thoughtfully curated learning environment by modeling the responsible care and organization of the classroom alongside your co-teacher. Key Responsibilities 55% Direct instruction and care in the classroom maintaining state and accreditation teacher-child ratio 15% Curriculum planning 10% Family support and communication / interaction 20% Collecting child documentation and provide child assessment screenings Supervision Received Receives instruction, guidance, and/or direction from more senior level roles Supervision Exercised May mentor or provide guidance as needed to others in completing education support duties Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree in early childhood education, child development or related area or the equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Preferred Qualifications Current Child Development Associate (CDA) Certificate Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field Anticipated Hiring Range The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $43,000 annually. Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
