Job Description

Griot Arts Inc. is a nonprofit organization based in Clarksdale, MS dedicated to arts education and workforce development for young people. We provide high-quality creative programming and a space where students feel seen, supported, and inspired. We are seeking a part-time Afterschool Coordinator to support our after-school program for the 2026/2027 programmatic year. This is a seasonal, part-time position reporting to the Youth Program Manager. Working Monday-Thursday, 3:30-7:00 PM (8-18 hrs/week, $15-$20/hr), you'll be responsible for ensuring students are creatively and mentally engaged from the moment they walk through the door. This means planning and executing hands-on arrival activities that give students meaningful opportunities to create and connect — ready and waiting for them at 3:30 PM every day — until they transition to their scheduled classes. You'll also prepare and portion snacks for students each day, set up the programming space, greet students by name, maintain attendance and sign-in/sign-out records, support teachers with materials and scheduling, communicate with families, and maintain a welcoming, organized environment where every student feels safe and included. This is a physically active, hands-on role that requires the ability to stand and move around for extended periods of time. Candidates must be organized, creative, reliable, and genuinely enjoy working with young people. A background check is required; experience in youth, education, or community settings is a plus.
