Position Summary The Case Manager plays a role in coordinating and enhancing student services within Asheville City Schools. This position provides disaster recovery and mental health support/resources to students with identified needs, ensures the implementation of effective interventions, and evaluates their impact. The Case Manager is responsible for assessing student barriers, connecting them with appropriate resources, and assisting staff in executing individualized support plans to promote student success.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordination & Collaboration Collaborate with School Social Workers and Student Support Specialists to enhance student services. Assist in mental health referrals and monitoring intervention strategies for students and families. Maintain positive relationships with families, students, school staff, and community partners. Case Management & Student Support Conduct assessments and observations to determine student needs. Track student progress and adjust interventions as necessary. Provide referrals and follow-up on mental health and social service resources. Provide additional support to families to ensure follow-through with recommended services. Crisis Response & Intervention Assist in crisis intervention and support students experiencing immediate distress. Provide post-crisis support and case management to ensure student stability. Connect with families and community partners for follow-up assessments. Compliance & Documentation Maintain accurate and confidential records of student cases and services provided. Ensure student cases are reviewed in collaboration with the district-lead Mental Health, SEL, and Social Worker to maintain best practices and service effectiveness.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, social work, or a related field (Master's preferred). Minimum of 2 years of experience in case management, student support, or educational support roles. Familiarity with IEPs, BIPs, social-emotional learning practices, and mental health interventions in school settings. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong knowledge of evidence-based intervention strategies and de-escalation techniques. Understanding of mental health resources and crisis intervention protocols. Excellent organizational and time management skills for tracking and documenting student progress. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism. Licensure & Certifications (Preferred) Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification preferred or willingness to obtain. Mental health first aid or crisis intervention certification is a plus.
