Job Type:
Full-time | In-person in Burnsville, NC About the Role The Adult Services Social Worker helps protect vulnerable adults and promote their safety, independence, and well-being. This position involves assessing reports of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of disabled or dependent adults, as well as providing support services to help clients remain safely independent. When needed, the worker may assist with guardianship, serve as a representative payee, or help clients and families access resources such as in-home care, housing, or long-term care. The role includes collaboration with healthcare providers, community agencies, families, and the court system. This is a meaningful public service role focused on improving the quality of life for adults who may be unable to protect or advocate for themselves. What You'll Do Investigate reports of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of vulnerable adults Complete risk and capacity assessments and determine the need for services Assist with court processes related to guardianship or protective services Provide case management and ongoing monitoring of adult service plans Coordinate with hospitals, care facilities, and community partners Maintain documentation and ensure timely reporting Refer individuals to appropriate community resources when protective services are not needed Participate in regular outreach and quarterly case reviews Qualifications We welcome applicants with a range of educational backgrounds and experience levels, but a bachelor's degree is required. Candidates who do not yet meet the qualifications for Social Worker III may be considered for Social Worker Trainee, Social Worker I, or Social Worker II, depending on their education and related experience. Minimum Training for
Social Worker III:
Master's in social work (MSW), or Master's in a human services field + 1 year experience, or Bachelor's in social work (BSW) + completion of the NC Child Welfare Collaborative, or BSW + 1 year of directly related experience, or Bachelor's in a human services field + 2 years of related experience, or Bachelor's in any field + 3 years of related experience
Additional Requirements:
Must be at least 21 years old Must hold a valid NC driver's license Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates are encouraged to apply Experience with vulnerable adult propulations or guardianship is preferred Growth Opportunities We offer a structured advancement path with training and pay increases as you gain experience.

$39,807
Social Worker I:
$40,543 → $42,570 after 6 months
Social Worker II:
$49,992+ (depending on experience)
Social Worker III:
$54,072
