Position Summary The primary location of this position is on the main Cullowhee, NC campus. The Department of Social Work at Western Carolina University invites application for a 9-month fixed term, 0.50 FTE position with employment beginning in August 2026 at the rank of Instructor. Job Responsibilities Support for Social Work Field Education Program
Select and vet field placement sites, work with undergraduate Social Work students to select field placement sites, monitor field placement sites, evaluate field placement sites, evaluate student performance in field placement, problem solve issues with students at field placement sites.
Service to the department
Teaching in the undergraduate Social Work program Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position Candidates should demonstrate an interest in and experience with Social Work field education and a commitment to field education, teaching, and service. Duties include teaching graduate and undergraduate Social Work courses, supporting the field education program, advising students, and engaging in social work practice. Minimum Qualifications MSW from a CSWE
- accredited Social Work program and two years post graduate experience Preferred Qualifications An earned doctorate in Social Work or a related field.
