Job Description

Child Specialist (Clinton Community Learning Center)

Non-Exempt Rate of Pay:
$15.50/hour
Schedule:
Monday-Friday 2:30pm-6:00pm Schedule may vary due to availability. CEDARS Community Learning Centers (CLC) offer on-site before-and-after school childcare and specialized clubs that enhance academic performance for elementary school children at Clinton, Hartley, Roper, and Randolph Elementary. The CLC programs provide students with positive experiences, enrichment, and academic clubs that help them become lifelong learners. The CLC programs also focus on family engagement and community outreach. Responsibilities Work as a CLC Staff for elementary students within our Community Learning Centers Maintain safety of children, most often between ages of 5-11 Daily documentation of children in care Engage children in educational and recreational activities Provide support with positive behavior management and structure for children Facilitate groups addressing social skills, educational needs, and enrichment activities Create and maintain positive relationships with children, families and program staff Job Skills/Requirements 19 years of age or older High school diploma or GED Valid driver's license with a good driving record Basic understanding of routines and expectations for school age children A genuine interest in and concern for all youth and families Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent classroom management skills Pursuing a degree in education or related field Previous experience working with school age children At CEDARS, our mission is to help children achieve safety, stability, and enduring family relationships.
