School Social Worker

School Social Worker Monday-Friday 8:30am-3:30pm

INTRODUCTION

The Midland School Social Worker plays a critical role in promoting the academic success, social-emotional well-being and overall development of students with the school community. Reporting to the Principal, the Social Worker collaborates with school staff, students, families and external agencies/ districts to address a wide range of issues impacting students' lives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide direct scheduled and emergency counseling services on a scheduled or as needed basis to children or parents; Facilitate IEP/annual review meetings as assigned; Act as a resource person for community resources and adult services; Maintain contact with those parents who require consistent and continued support; Coordinate the school wide social skills program and/or provide social skills instruction to classrooms as part of the school wide social skills program; Serve the needs of the students in the transition class and work programs in their transition to work and community as assigned; Assist each family in providing for the child's ability to function in a socially effective and acceptable manner; Participate in student staffings; Serve as liaison person between cooperating agencies; Provide inservice programs and support services to staff; Develop and implement a Professional Development Plan; Develop and implement effective behavior management programs in conjunction with the student's team; Plan and execute staff development and parent training sessions as needed; Participate in all staff meetings; Perform bus duty, lunch duty, select evening meetings, conferences and any other duties as assigned by the principal; Maintain professional communication that represents Midland School mission, culture, and values; Perform any other duties as assigned by the Principal.

EDUCATION

MSW or ACSW or equivalent from an accredited college or university
