Responsibilities:
The Prevention Coordinator is primarily responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and assessing La Casa, Inc's prevention initiatives. The Prevention Coordinator works under the direction of the Director of Support Services to develop, implement, evaluate, and continuously improve all aspects of prevention programming. In addition, the Prevention Coordinator ensures that all staff implementing prevention programming are appropriately trained and supported in their activities. The Prevention Coordinator is also responsible for coordinating all aspects of prevention programming, focusing on supporting youth in Dona Ana, Hidalgo, and Luna Counties to build skills to support healthy relationships and prevent interpersonal violence. Primary locations for these services are Las Cruces, Deming, Anthony, Chaparral, Hatch, and Sunland Park; however, travel may be required to other underserved areas. Target populations are predominantly Spanish speaking: fluency in Spanish is required. In addition, the Prevention Coordinator is responsible for providing support and supervision to the Prevention Educators and managing collaborator relationships integral to the success of youth prevention programming.

Provide supervision, guidance, and evaluation to all Prevention Educators, interns, and volunteers Compile and complete all monthly reports for funding sources in a timely manner. Work with the Director of Support Services to develop and enhance program services, especially those of the
Prevention Education and Outreach Department Direct Service:
Oversee the evaluation of intimate partner violence prevention strategies and other intimate partner violence prevention work. Work collaboratively with partner organizations and key stakeholders involved in youth prevention programming to provide opportunities for youth leadership development and engage students in activities that will support positive youth development and increase healthy relationships. Participate in community-based, anti-violence coalitions emphasizing intimate partner violence prevention perspectives Assist in completing required reports and other documentation in a timely and complete manner Provide crisis intervention, advocacy, access to emergency medical services, and assistance with police reporting Advocate with and for clients as appropriate to create an individualized case plan through protective orders, assistance filing Crime Victim's Compensation, housing, legal issues, and obtaining needed services Provide educational presentations on domestic violence issues to community organizations and groups. Attend staff meetings and in-service training Assist with volunteer and new staff training Work cooperatively with the Prevention Educators, Director of Support Services, and other members of the La Casa, Inc. staff to ensure programmatic development and implementation that is in alignment with La Casa, Inc.'s principles of trauma-informed care, confidentiality, empowerment, and cultural competency Participate in professional development activities, including keeping abreast of recent trends and developments regarding domestic violence, stalking, dating violence, strangulation, and advocacy as they pertain to the clients served by La Casa, by reading and attending seminars and training. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
  • BA/BSW preferred.
  • Combination of education and on-the-job experience working with survivors of domestic violence or crime victims may be considered a substitute for education
  • Experience coordinating programs, providing community education, and/or crisis intervention preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English required
  • Warm, empathic, and non-judgmental, with demonstrated ability to maintain healthy boundaries with clients and staff.
