Full Job Description Hours:
8:30am-5:30pm Reports to:

Full-time; Contingent upon funding
Salary:
Commensurate with experience Provide support, advocacy, referral, assistance to survivors of domestic violence. This position is responsible for crisis intervention, safety planning, case management, legal and immigration advocacy, referrals, outreach and education. The Advocate works collaboratively with community members and partner agencies to ensure a seamless response to survivors' needs.
  • Work hours: Monday- Friday (Some evening as needed)
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds
  • Work may be performed in an office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like but not limited to the office environment.
  • Provide crisis intervention to victims of domestic violence, offering immediate in-person and phone support and advocacy.
  • Conduct domestic violence outreach and community education programs.
  • Deliver support, advocacy, referrals, case management, and legal assistance to survivors of domestic violence.
  • Collaborate with survivors to develop, implement, monitor, and update individual safety plans.
  • Assist survivors in emergency situations by facilitating access to shelter, financial assistance, transportation, and other basic needs.
  • Maintain accurate client files, progress notes, and data entry; submit timely monthly reports and other required documentation to meet contract obligations.
  • Refer clients to legal advocacy services and guide them through navigating multiple systems.
  • Support survivors in accessing additional services, such as job training, counseling, housing, and medical care, including scheduling appointments.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as contact notes, observation notes, timesheets, responding to messages, and assisting clients with paperwork.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings, training sessions, and reviews of electronic correspondence.
  • Facilitate a multidisciplinary team comprised of Project Partners, law enforcement, prosecutors, victim service providers, faith-based organizations and other community leaders to develop strategies and implementation plans to support the investigation and prosecution of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault.
  • Ensure detailed and accurate case notes are recorded promptly after each client interaction.
  • Advocate for clients in legal and immigration matters, including preparing and filing protective order petitions.
  • Conduct research to provide relevant information to clients and assist in obtaining legal representation, accompanying them to trials or court hearings as needed.
  • Evaluate clients' eligibility for immigration benefits and identify potential legal barriers.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, securing all confidential documents appropriately.
  • Provide services with empathy and adherence to trauma-informed principles, offering guidance, motivation, and encouragement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to work as a team member with other staff members.
  • Ability to provide appropriate interventions and referrals for each family. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) frequently.

  • Attend continued education training on advocacy based DV counseling for victims and their children.
  • Desire to empower families from diverse cultures and backgrounds and to work with multi-ethnic survivors.
  • Experience working with culturally diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated respect for others' experiences, opinions, language, values, culture, and knowledge.
  • Demonstrated track record in advocacy, with ability to navigate multiple systems to ensure seamless services. Completion of a minimum of 40 hours of training in domestic violence as well as continuing education required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social work or related field. A minimum of two (2) years' experience working with domestic violence.
  • Attend continued education training on advocacy based DV counseling for victims and their children
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English required.
  • Valid drivers license and access to a vehicle.
  • Proficient in computer application or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft office applications.
Pay:
$22.00 per hour
