Valid NM Public Education Department Social Worker License or eligibility Level III preferably High degree of knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to elementary school High degree of knowledge about program offerings Knowledge of Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS) Must demonstrate a willingness to work in a cooperative environment Strong reading, written, verbal and interpersonal skillsResponsibilities:
Assist in the early recognition and prevention of educational problems Participate as a team member in comprehensive evaluation, review and re-evaluation processes Participate in the development of the student's Individual Education Plan To provide direct services to students, as specified on the student's IEP, including one-to-one education, group work, consultation with staff, parent and social services liaison, and referral to community agencies Assist teachers in the development and implementation of appropriate classroom behavioral support strategies and social skills instruction Facilitate communication and connection between home and school Identify and develop Behavioral Health priorities Maintain up-to-date student records Order and maintain an adequate inventory of materials and supplies Consult with teachers, parents and school staff to develop targeted interventions for students with disabilities when the school teams need to explore alternative strategies Maintain appropriate confidential records and provide timely reports Meet and confer with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress, determine priorities for their children based on their needs Provide guidance in using community resources Provide teletherapy services for special education services when needed Work productively as part of a team Other duties as assigned Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time Ability to sit for prolonged periods while preparing lessons and completing documentation Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and reach Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally Ability to assist students with mobility and physical needs, as required Ability to physically intervene consistent with CPI training when necessary to ensure student and staff safety Adequate vision, hearing, and speaking ability to supervise students and communicate effectively Ability to operate standard classroom technology and office equipmentContract Period:
