Citizens, Nionals or those who owe allegiance to the U.S. Videos Duties Help The duties and responsibilities of the Teen Coordinor can be grouped into cegories including programming, indoor/outdoor environment, interactions and relionships, supervision of children and youth, outreach, personnel management, and compliance. These tasks are summarized below. Programming Assists with the development and supervision of a developmentally approprie teen program th promotes the social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth of children and youth in the age cegories served. Establish activities th th foster development through both educional and recreional program activities. Develops and offers programs reled to the core program areas presented in the OPNAV and implements programs required by the Department of Navy (DoN) such as Boys and Girls Club of America (BGCA) or 4-H required programs. Develops, organizes and conducts special interest activities such as trips, special events, dances and trips th may include parents and other family members. Involves youth and teens in the planning process to ensure the activities offered meet the social and recreional needs and interests of the age groups served. Collabores with other military installions in planning developmentally approprie regional teen activities, as applicable. Collects informion regarding actual and potential participant interests and needs and makes recommendions for improvement. Indoor/outdoor Environment Prepares the facility or outdoor space for scheduled activities and ensures all safety requirements are met prior to use of the area. Secures the necessary supplies and equipment to support the programs and activities offered and ensures th all equipment and supplies are age-approprie and in good condition. Maintains control of indoor and outdoor equipment, games and supplies used for teen programs and ensures th all equipment and supplies are stored properly . Interactions and Relionships Establishes a program environment th enhances physical, emotional, social, and cognitive, sustains participant interest and promotes positive interactions between children, youth and adults. Ensures approprie sportsman-like conduct is modeled by CYP employees, volunteers, and participants. Uses approprie child and youth guidance techniques th encourages positive social interactions, promotes conflict resolution, and develops self-control, self-motivion and self-esteem Supervision of Children and Youth Provides care and supervision, oversight, and accountability for program participants in compliance with local policies, guidance, and standards. Ensures th activities promote the social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth of youth and teens. Outreach Publicizes upcoming teen, fitness and sports events and activities and ensures th opportunities offered in the community are communiced and shared with families. Visits locals housing areas to make contact with teens in order to encourage their participion in the teen program. Assists in the development of a youth sponsorship program to identify and integre dependent youth of DoD military personnel who are new to the installion to include outreach, newcomer oriention, and peer-to-peer opportunities. At the Youth Director's direction, the incumbent: Inities and implements personnel actions and supports the YF Coordinor in order to assure quality reled to selection, assignments, training, promotions, disciplinary actions, and recognition of employees and volunteers. Supports and carries out all established EEO objectives and policies in mters of personnel management and communices support of these policies. Establishes local performance standards for employees and volunteers using established standards and requirements and res employees' performance. Resolves complaints reled to personnel and makes recommendions to the Director for corrective action as necessary. Compliance Ensures compliance to all fire, safety and security rules and regulions. Ensures compliance with law, policies, and regulions applicable to DoD CY programs. Additional Responsibilities In the absence of the Youth Director, incumbent may assume responsibilities and perform duties and requirements of the position under supervision of CYP Director with Oversight. Assists in preparion of grant applicions for additional funding. Serves as a mandory reporter to Family Advocacy and Child Protective Services as prescribed by local policy in the case of suspected incidences of child abuse and neglect. A qualified candide possesses the following: Combinion of 3 years experience in developmentally approprie programming and corresponding credentials OR a combinion of educion and full time experience working with children Knowledge of developmentally approprie programs designed to meet the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive needs of children and youth from 13 to 18 years of age. Knowledge of child and youth development principles, practices, and techniques. Knowledge of a variety of teen programming activities for children and youth. Knowledge of Federal and Ste laws governing the detection and prevention of child abuse and/or neglect. Skill in program planning, organizing, and employee scheduling. Skill working with military families and an understanding of military lifestyles is preferred. Ability to communice effectively in English, both orally and in writing, and possess strong interpersonal communicion skills. Ability to lead, supervise, and interact with youth and teens. Ability to safeguard and account for monies and equipment. Ability to maintain records and reports. Ability to supervise others. Educion A Child Development Associe (CDA) credential, Military School Age (MSA) credential or equivalent AND 3 years of experience where the incumbent displays knowledge of a competency in developmentally approprie programming. OR 2-year degree in Early Childhood Educion (ECE), Child Development or reled field of study, which can include Youth Recreion, Physical Educion, Elementary Educion, Secondary Educion, Youth Development, Psychology, Social Work, Home Economics with an emphasis in Human Development or other degrees as approprie AND 2 years of full-time experience working with children or youth. OR 4 year degree in any of the above fields of study AND a minimum of 1 year of experience working with children or youth.
