Job Description

Category Schools - Social Worker Job Type Contract Make a meaningful contribution in educational environments supporting students' social and emotional well-being. This contract opportunity involves school social work in special education settings for two potential needs: a short-term assignment (September-October 2026) at an elementary school and a possible position at a high school for the 2026-27 school year. Bring your expertise to provide vital resources and support that help students thrive academically and personally. Your skill set will be highly valued as you collaborate with faculty, parents, and community agencies to foster positive outcomes for children and adolescents.
Qualifications & Experience Desired:
New York State Teaching Certification:
School Social Worker Active NYS Licensure as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW); preference for LCSW Experience working in school and/or healthcare-based social work, with a strong understanding of special education processes and supports Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding best practices in service delivery Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to consult with educators and families to design effective intervention plans Team-oriented approach and a passion for advocating for students' success
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individual and group counseling and social-emotional support to students with special needs Conduct assessments and develop comprehensive intervention strategies Consult with teachers, parents, and external providers regarding students' individualized education plans (IEPs) Facilitate referrals to community resources and collaborate in multi-disciplinary meetings Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations This is a rewarding opportunity to impact lives in supportive educational settings.
