Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and energetic Childrens Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator to lead engaging, therapeutic recreational programs tailored for children with diverse needs. In this vital role, you will design and implement dynamic activities that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being. Your expertise will help foster a supportive environment where children can thrive through creative therapies, including music therapy, art therapy, mindful meditation, and more. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children struggle with severe medical conditions, developmental disabilities, autism, and other special needs. Your dedication will help children to experience childhood in an inpatient medical setting.
Responsibilities :
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to determine individual needs and create personalized activity plans aligned with medical records and diagnostic evaluations. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure a well rounded life. Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions focused on the daily schedule provided. Manage intake procedures and maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations while ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information. Provide a positive energy to group, and private sessions, and establish a connection with each individual child. Lead engaging activities taylored to each individules capabilities. Demonstrate strong crisis management skills by responding swiftly to behavioral incidents or medical emergencies while maintaining a calm demeanor. Document careplan notes specific to each individules needs. Experience Proven experience working with children who have developmental disabilities or medical challenges. Background in recreational therapy techniques including music therapy, art therapy, dance/movement therapy (dance therapy), yoga, equine-assisted activities (equine experience), and other holistic approaches. Familiarity with medical terminology, and working within HIPAA guidelines for patient privacy. Experience managing case documentation through accurate medical records and data collection methods for program evaluation purposes. Knowledge of working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) as well as those requiring special education services. Strong skills in group facilitation for recreational activities such as swimming classes or therapeutic group sessions focused on behavioral health or mental health counseling.
