Job Description
Are you looking for a rewarding position but can only work a few hours a month? Bilingual or Spanish speaking candidates preferred. The Domestic Violence program at Unity House of Troy has an opening for a part-time Alternating Weekend Advocate position for either 7:30AM-3:30PM or 3:30PM-11:30PM.

Responsibilities:
Provide coverage for staff, while ensuring the satisfactory and safe functioning of the Domestic Violence emergency residence. Answer phones and texts including the Unity House Domestic Violence Hotline and NYS Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault/PREA Hotlines, and handling miscellaneous site issues. Engage in ongoing victim-centered and trauma-informed interactions with program residents in a manner that is in keeping with the agency's mission and service philosophy. Provide crisis intervention including, but not limited to identifying crises, providing emotional support, obtaining necessary resources, and completing associated paperwork, such as intakes, case notes and or incident reports. Promote a culture of inclusion and diversity.Requirements:
High school diploma/GED and 1-2 years previous experience working with victims of domestic violence, hotline and crisis management experience. Reliable transportation. Valid NYS driver's license and acceptable driving record as determined by our company's liability insurance policy. Unity House is a Rensselaer County-based human service agency that provides a wide range of services to meet the otherwise unmet needs of people in our community who are hurting and struggling. We assist those who are living in poverty, adults living with mental illness or HIV/AIDS, victims of domestic violence, and children with developmental delays.
