POSITION:
School Social Worker
QUALIFICATIONS
A valid Ohio Social Worker, Counseling or Psychologist License. A Bachelor's Degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university. Maintain a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment. Appropriate recommendations from previous supervisors or other professionals who have observed personal characteristics, scholastic attainment and performance. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable.

RESPONSIBLE TO
Building Principal (s) GENERAL
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide direct and indirect services to address concerns of at-risk students. Provide student intervention, prevention services and crisis intervention. Work with school community agencies to address and support student concerns.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Providing intervention, counseling and education on issues including, but not limited to academic achievement, school avoidance and attendance concerns, divorce, grief and loss, abuse, self-harming behaviors and suicidal ideation, self-regulation, conflict resolution, anger management, anxiety, and social skills. Provide linkage with community services; monitor services received and advocate for the service of students in the community and school. Provide crisis intervention. Conduct threat and suicide risk assessments. Develop intervention strategies to increase academic success. Providing family support and education. Assisting parents in accessing and utilizing school and community resources. Work in close collaboration with school counselors, school psychologists, administrators, interventionists and teachers to best support students.
