Job Description

Job Summary:
Grace Lutheran Church is seeking a welcoming, personable individual to serve as the director of youth and family ministries, relating to children, youth, families, and young adults for faith formation and engagement. Areas of Responsibility:
Build a comprehensive approach to the development and implementation of youth and family ministry throughout childhood and youth development Encourage children, youth, and families in developing their faith and relationship with God, and challenge them to respond to God's call to serve in their communities and the world Provide and coordinate regular opportunities for faith formation, growth, and engagement, which may include (but is not limited to): Sunday School (grades PreK-5), Youth group (grades 6-12), and Intergenerational faith formation opportunities for families Coordinate baptism, first communion, and confirmation education in collaboration with the pastor and volunteers Develop and implement children, youth, and family involvement in weekly worship Support community engagement, mission, and outreach, including First Fridays, Scare on the Square, community service, and other community events Recruit, train, and coordinate appropriate volunteers to support children, youth, and family ministries Keep records of youth participation and manage the youth ministry budget Ensure communication with church staff and leadership, parents and guardians, and the congregation as a whole Support the development of future young adult ministry Support social media engagement and create social media content Ensure that the Child Protection and other policies of the congregation are observed in all youth ministry settings Work collaboratively with other staff members and maintain a teamwork mentality Job skills and requirements: Embrace Christian discipline and ELCA doctrine and theology Welcoming and affirming of children, youth, and families from all backgrounds, races, genders, sexualities, and abilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills, computer skills, and conflict management skills Possess a proven ability to work effectively with children, youth, diverse individuals and families, and teams of volunteers Ability to travel and drive a motor vehicle Must pass an annual background check Attendance at the following meetings is expected: regular staff meetings, biweekly youth group sessions during the school year, and youth trips and activities (ELCA National Youth Gathering, confirmation camp, other youth gatherings, and family events) Position status: Initial hours per week: 10-15 $20-25 per hour, negotiable based on experience 2-4 weeks unpaid vacation One week of continuing education to include a

The Director of Youth and Family Ministries works directly under the supervision of the pastor(s) and Congregation Council The Director of Youth and Family Ministries receives an annual performance review Position compensation is reviewed annually Upon hiring, a 90 day probationary period will be in effect

$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
