Student Support/Parent Coordinator PA Migrant Education Program Reading, PA Job Details Full-time $19 - $20 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance 401(k) 401(k) matching Qualifications School experience Spanish Family collaboration in education English Working with children Working with students Working with families Teaching Full Job Description Minimum requirements are a bachelor's degree in education, social work, or other related areas and previous experience working in a school or other experience involving direct services to children. Must have Knowledge of educational issues or teaching experience; knowledgeable of appropriate support services and agencies and ability to assist parents/families in promoting educational achievement. Bilingual (Spanish/English) is preferred but not required. Multicultural experience is a plus. Attendance is extremely important, occasional evening or overnight workshop is required; evening and weekend sessions/home visits/parent involvement activities may also be required. (Working remotely until further notice due to the
COVID-19
Pandemic). Must be able to lift and carry medium loads; must be able to navigate uneven ground, stairs, porches, and steps; must have the stamina to travel and provide services within the same workday. The ability to provide all state-mandated clearances related to providing services to children is a pre-employment condition. This position is not direct employment with the university but with the PA Department of Education Migrant Education Program. The Migrant Education Program is only supported by Millersville University.
Job Description :
Participate in all required scheduled meetings, training, and /or in-services. Submit all required reports and paperwork in a timely fashion. Be available to work outside of traditional hours, as appropriate, in accordance with the needs of migrant students and families. Meeting personally with migrant parents to establish and maintain an open communication system about their child/ren's education. Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Program Director or the Team Leader to support the program's mission to provide services to all eligible migrant students. Cover all migrant children assigned as a caseload. Monitor grades and attendance of migrant students on a regular basis. Work as a liaison between school personnel, community agencies, and migrant families. Interact with assigned schools to know and understand all of the programs and services available to students in that building and to become part of the school/building community. Participate in school District initiated child study teams to represent the needs of migrant students. Conduct afterschool Programs if needed. Work with PAC board members to encourage their participation in local/regional board leadership trainings. Attend local/regional leadership trainings for PAC board members. Maintain regular and ongoing contact with the members of the parent board. Visit new migrant families to provide informational Welcome Packets. Prepare, schedule and implement parent meetings and workshops in coordination with local project area staff. Establish and maintain partnerships with community agencies in order to facilitate access to local services for migrant families and prepare a list that includes addresses, phone numbers and contact names. Work to involve migrant families in program activities Accompany local members to State PAC meetings. Organize and complete the necessary paperwork, which includes monthly reports, schedule, etc. Take lead in the distribution, collecting and reporting related to parent surveys.
