Academic Coordinator

Submit Resume and Cover Letter The Academic Coordinator is a full time position who coordinates academic programs of DinoMights including elementary, middle school, and high school tutoring, academic interventions, technology programs, and summer academic program. This person should have strong youth work skills and a desire to grow in the field of youth work, education, and/or ministry. The staff person reports to the Program Manager and is responsible for a full range of activities -program services; volunteer development; youth recruitment; and fundraising. Areas of Responsibility Program Services 65% Provide Quality youth development services to urban children and youth Coordinate one-on-one elementary tutoring program, Create tutor/student matches, Communicate with schools, Communicate with parents, Develop lesson plans Conduct academic assessments. Coordinate middle school tutoring program Create tutor/student matches, Communicate with schools, Communicate with parents, Develop lesson plans Conduct academic assessments Ensure academic progress via regular grade and attendance checks. Coordinate High School tutoring Communicate with schools, Communicate with parents, Create academic incentives Conduct academic interventions when necessary Conduct academic assessments, including gathering data on GPA and Attendance. Ensure academic progress via regular grade and attendance checks. Serve as coach, academic tutor, youth advocate, trip leader, as needed etc. Assist in developing and evaluating yearly program/events/trips Facilitate mentoring relationships between volunteers and youth Meet weekly with Staff for assistance, planning, prayer, and encouragement. Youth Recruitment 10% Help identify potential DinoMight recruits Contact potential DinoMight families and visit families interested in enrolling youth. Volunteer Development 15% Oversee volunteer leadership of tutoring, long-term mentor relationships, camps, outings, and special events. Monitor and expand quality training opportunities for volunteers. Fund Raising 10% Help identify potential new program supporters Help maintain relationships with key partners (i.e. MN Wild, Park Ave. Foundation, etc.) Assist in planning and programming of DinoMights annual fundraiser and other fundraisers
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Bachelor's Degree in related field and some experience with urban youth Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organization skills. Ability to execute on details. Passion for the program and our mission. Commitment to inclusivity and creating a welcoming environment. Respect for and agreement with the faith-based nature of the DinoMights organization. Background check and child abuse prevention training (organizational support provided).
MINIMUM TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED
Google Suite programs Salesforce CRM skill is preferred Experience with online giving platforms Basic computer skills
SPECIAL SKILLS OR KNOWLEDGE NEEDED
Strong background in the field of education. Strong knowledge of how early elementary students acquire the ability to read. Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to manage conflict, build relationships Strong leadership skills, including providing direction, leading teamwork, coaching, motivating Strong organizational strategy skills, including managing, focusing on participant and community needs
