Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a caring and dedicated Counselor to provide behavioral health services to children and families as an independent contractor. This position is open to candidates holding a Bachelor's degree in a human services-related field or a Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related discipline who are working toward licensure. The ideal candidate has a genuine passion for working with youth and families, is comfortable navigating complex family dynamics, and is committed to delivering trauma-informed, culturally sensitive care. This role offers a flexible schedule, making it ideal for those looking to grow their clinical experience while maintaining work-life balance. All services are provided under the supervision of a licensed clinical professional. Responsibilities Provide individual, group, and family counseling services to children and families under clinical supervision Conduct intake assessments and psychosocial histories with children and their caregivers Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of children and families Facilitate psychoeducation sessions with parents and caregivers on topics such as behavior management, communication, and child development Support families in navigating school systems, community resources, and social services Monitor and document client progress through detailed, timely progress notes and case records in compliance with HIPAA and agency standards Collaborate with teachers, school counselors, pediatricians, case managers, and other providers involved in the child's care Implement evidence-based interventions appropriate for children and adolescents (e.g., CBT, TF-CBT, play therapy techniques) Conduct safety assessments and develop safety plans when concerns related to abuse, neglect, or self-harm are identified Participate in regular clinical supervision and multidisciplinary team meetings Fulfill mandated reporter obligations in accordance with state law
Skills & Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Counseling, or a related field OR Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related field (license not required; may be actively working toward licensure)
Skills:
Genuine passion for working with children, adolescents, and families Strong understanding of child development, family systems, and trauma-informed care Ability to build rapport with youth of varying ages and diverse backgrounds Knowledge of mandated reporting requirements and child welfare processes Strong written and verbal communication skills for documentation and collaboration Ability to work independently, manage a flexible caseload, and meet documentation deadlines Cultural humility and sensitivity when working with diverse families and communities Basic knowledge of evidence-based practices used with children and families (CBT, TF-CBT, motivational interviewing, etc.)
Preferred:
Experience working with children, youth, or families (internship experience accepted) Bilingual (English/Spanish or other languages) strongly preferred Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems Experience with school-based, in-home, or community-based services
Pay:
$18.00 - $24.00 per hour
