Full-timePosition SummaryThe Recovery Doula BRICK Program provides trauma-informed, family-centered, and recovery-oriented support services to pregnant and postpartum individuals and families impacted by substance use, mental health challenges, trauma, and other social determinants of health. This position is grounded in SIRACs Family-Run Organization (FRO) model, emphasizing relationship-based support, lived experience, family voice, and equitable access to community-based care.

The Recovery Doula works collaboratively with BRICK staff, peer support workers, healthcare providers, and community partners to promote healthy pregnancies, strengthen caregiver resilience, improve family stability, and support positive maternal and infant outcomes. This role focuses on providing emotional support, advocacy, education, and care coordination for families navigating pregnancy, postpartum recovery, recovery from substance use disorders, and complex life circumstances. This position primarily provides community-based prenatal and postpartum support services and does not require routine on-call birth attendance. Key ResponsibilitiesPerinatal & Recovery Support ServicesProvide individualized emotional, informational, and practical support to pregnant and postpartum participants enrolled in the BRICK Program.

Support participants impacted by substance use disorders, recovery, trauma, mental health challenges, and adverse social determinants of health using a strengths-based and nonjudgmental approach.

Assist participants with birth planning, labor and delivery preparation, postpartum recovery planning, infant care education, and caregiver wellness.

Provide prenatal and postpartum visits in homes, hospitals, clinics, or community settings as appropriate.

Promote healthy attachment, caregiver wellbeing, family resilience, and protective factors through relationship-based support and education.

Provide education related to breastfeeding, safe sleep, infant care, postpartum wellness, and maternal health.

Family-Centered Practice & EngagementUtilize trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and family-centered approaches in all interactions and services.

Support participants in navigating healthcare, behavioral health, recovery support, and social service systems.

Collaborate with BRICK peer support workers, family support staff, healthcare providers, and community partners to coordinate wraparound supports and referrals.

Promote participant empowerment, self-advocacy, and engagement in services and recovery supports.

Ensure services are accessible and responsive to the unique needs of rural families and communities.

Program Operations & DocumentationMaintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in accordance with organizational standards and grant requirements.

Participate in case staffing meetings, team meetings, outreach activities, and professional development opportunities.

Support data collection, program evaluation, and reporting efforts related to participant engagement and program outcomes.

Maintain confidentiality and adhere to organizational policies, ethical standards, and applicable regulations.

Other DutiesPerform other duties as assigned to support the evolving needs of the BRICK Program and families served.

Adapt to changing program priorities, participant needs, and community conditions within a dynamic rural service environment.

Contribute to organizational initiatives, cross-program collaboration, and community engagement efforts as needed.

QualificationsEducation & ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent required; associates or bachelors degree in Social Work, Human Services, Public Health, Psychology, Nursing, or a related field preferred.

Certified Doula through a recognized training organization (e.g., DONA, CAPPA, ICEA, or equivalent) preferred. Candidates who are not currently certified but demonstrate strong alignment with the role may be considered; certification must be obtained within two (2) years of hire.

Experience working with pregnant or postpartum individuals, families impacted by substance use disorders, recovery, trauma, mental health challenges, or child welfare involvement strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesDemonstrated understanding of substance use disorders, recovery processes, pregnancy, postpartum care, and the unique challenges experienced by families impacted by substance use.

Knowledge of trauma-informed care, harm reduction principles, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), and social determinants of health.

Ability to build authentic, supportive relationships with participants, families, and community partners.

Strong communication, advocacy, documentation, and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently while maintaining effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Commitment to equitable, culturally responsive, and nonjudgmental service delivery.

Additional RequirementsValid drivers license and reliable transportation.

Ability to travel throughout SIRACs service region.

Flexible schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends based on participant or program needs. Work EnvironmentThe work environment may include a combination of office-based, community-based, and possible remote work dependent on programming needs. Exempt positions are not eligible for overtime. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for participant needs or volunteer events. This position does not require routine on-call scheduling for labor and delivery attendance. Schedule to be determined upon hire. Compensation and Benefits Starting wage of $19.58/hour.

Mileage reimbursement at the current federally mandated rate.
