Videos Duties Help The VA Boston Brockton supervisory team has a variety of clinical programs with a wide range of social work services providing outpient and community-based services and trement for veterans and families. These programs include complex specialty care such as, Dementia Care Coordinion, Intime Partner Violence, Veteran Directed Care, and Medical Foster Homes. The section also includes larger programs such as the Post 9/11 Military 2 VA Case Management (to include the Wounded Warrior Care Network), the Coordined Care and Integred Case Management Program, and Home-Based Primary Care social workers. The incumbent is responsible for the stregic planning and operion of assigned program and operions ensuring goal alignment with Social Work Service The incumbent is responsible for the stregic planning and operion of assigned programs and operions ensuring goal alignment with Social Work Service. Duties include but not limited to: Ensures the delivery of Social Work services on a routine and emergent basis, including non-administrive hours; Ensures th essential Clinical Social Work functions are provided, to include pre-admission planning and admission; discharge planning and coordinion; coordinion of community-based services; and crisis intervention services; Provides supervision for all staff within area of responsibility Develops position descriptions or functional stements, performance standards, competency assessments, and completes performance appraisals; Plans or participes in planning for Social Work coverage in all program areas, including after hours coverage; Ensures compliance with Joint Commission, CARF, and Long Term Care Institute standards as applicable to social work service and programs; Develops and implements social work practice guidelines to streamline operions; and, Provides leadership in identifying and addressing ethical issues th impact clients and staff. Serves as key member of the Social Work Professional Practice Council, the Social Work Service Management Team, the Community Care and Integred Case Management CCRT and Oversight Committee as well as various social work, facility, VISN and VACO working groups, task forces, and committees; Responsible for developing, planning, administering, and managing assigned programs and operions within social work service ensuring program effectiveness and evaluion; Serves as the liaison to other services or care lines, other facilities, VISN offices, and VHA Central Office. Basic Requirements :

Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Educion (CSWE). A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Licensure:
Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a ste to independently practice social work the master's degree level. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfhering Provision as described in the VA Qualificion Standard for this occupion (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupion and meet the criteria).

Experience/Educion:
One year of experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level. Experience must demonstre possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstring progressively more professional competency. Individual may have certificion or other post-master's degree training from a nionally recognized organizion or university th includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience.
Licensure/Certificion:
The Associe Chief social worker must be licensed or certified the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. Demonstred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities a) Skill in large scale program coordinion and administrion across multiple sites, which includes consultion, negotiion, and monitoring. (b) Ability to transle management goals and objectives into well-coordined and controlled work operions. (c) Ability to analyze organizional and operional problems and to develop and implement solutions th result in sound operion of the program. (d) Ability to collabore with internal and external partners to further program goals and enhance pient centered care. (e) Ability to provide the full range of supervisory duties which would include responsibility for assignment of work to be performed; performance evaluions; selection of staff, training, and recommendion of awards, advancements, and when approprie, disciplinary action. (f) Ability to oversee the fiscal mters of the functions supervised (including fund controls, contracts, and equipment expenditures), forecast resource and equipment needs, and administer the alloced budget. (g) Skill in developing policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program and in participing in nional program development. (h) Ability to collabore with internal VHA partners, locally and on a nional level, as well as external community partners to further program goals and enhance pient centered care.

Physical Requirements:
Traveling throughout the Medical Center and community is required, as is performing activities involving sitting, walking, and standing, bending and carrying such items as books, papers, and files.
