Job Description

Child and Family Advocate/MDT Coordinator Job Summary:
The Child & Family Advocate / MDT Coordinator provides direct, trauma-informed advocacy and support to child victims and their non-offending family members and coordinates the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) response to suspected child abuse/neglect. This dual role ensures families receive compassionate crisis intervention, case navigation, and access to services while fostering timely, collaborative investigations and service planning among partner agencies. The Advocate/MDT Coordinator serves as a primary point of contact for families from intake through case closure and ensures services are delivered in compliance with VOCA program guidelines, agency policies, and ethical standards.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and ongoing advocacy to child victims and non-offending caregivers impacted by crime. Conduct intake and needs assessments to determine victim eligibility and service needs Educate victims and caregivers about their rights, available services, and the criminal justice process in a trauma-informed and developmentally appropriate manner. Accompany and support victims during forensic interviews, medical exams, and court proceedings. Coordinate referrals for counseling, medical care, housing assistance, transportation, and other VOCA-allowable services. Maintain consistent contact with victims to provide follow-up services and assess ongoing needs. Document all services accurately and timely Serves as primary contact for the
MDT:
Schedule and facilitate MDT meetings, case reviews, and planning sessions for 5 counties Build and maintain collaborative relationship with law enforcement, child protective services, medical providers, mental health professionals, prosecutors, and community partners. Track and monitor cases through referral, investigation, intervention, and follow-up. Assist with data collection, outcome tracking Participate in ongoing education
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, human services, criminal justice, or a related field. Experience providing direct services to victims of crime, children, or families affected by trauma. Knowledge of trauma-informed, victim-centered advocacy principles. Strong documentation, organizational, and time management skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to work collaboratively with MDT partners
