Position Summary The After-School Director is responsible for the overall management, supervision, safety, and success of the school's after-school program. This individual will provide leadership to after-school staff, ensure students are actively engaged in meaningful activities, maintain accurate attendance and accountability procedures, and serve as the primary point of contact for families and school administration during after-school hours.
Hours:
Monday-Friday, 3:15 PM-6:00 PM This position is to start when the 2026 - 2027 school year starts. Essential Responsibilities Student Safety & Supervision Maintain full supervision of all students participating in the after-school program at all times. Ensure all students are accounted for from dismissal until authorized pick-up. Implement and monitor check-in, attendance, transition, and dismissal procedures. Respond appropriately to student behavior concerns, injuries, emergencies, and other incidents. Ensure all safety procedures, school policies, and program expectations are followed. Staff Leadership & Management Supervise and support after-school staff members. Assign responsibilities and monitor staff performance. Ensure appropriate staff-to-student ratios are maintained. Provide direction, coaching, and problem-solving support to staff as needed. Foster a positive, professional, and collaborative team environment. Program Coordination Ensure the daily after-school schedule is followed consistently. Monitor tutoring and academic support sessions to ensure they are occurring as scheduled and effectively supporting students. Plan, organize, and coordinate engaging, hands-on enrichment activities that promote creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, and student engagement. Maintain a structured balance of academic support, enrichment, recreation, and social interaction. Communication Communicate regularly and professionally with parents regarding student participation, behavior, and program information. Notify building administration immediately of serious incidents, safety concerns, injuries, allegations, or emergencies. Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and parent communication as required. Serve as the primary point of contact for families during after-school hours. Qualifications High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred. Previous experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, recreation, or youth development setting. Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously. Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in emergency situations. The After School Director is responsible for ensuring that every student is safe, engaged, supervised, and successfully participating in the program from arrival to dismissal each day.
