The Center for Family Development provides a comprehensive home visitation program implementing the Parents as Teachers (www.parentsasteachers.org) evidence-based model for families. Parents as Teachers (PAT) is a voluntary program that uses parent coaching to provide developmental screening, family service plan development, home visitation, family connection group sessions and connections to the community resources and services.

Health Savings Account, Flexible Schedule Job Description Summary:
The Parent Educator will emphasize parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting, and family well-being in their work with families in their homes. While every family has different needs, the Parent Educator will consistently provide in-home support to the families by facilitating activities that increase knowledge of infant/child development, modeling healthy relationships, discussing, supporting the families' goals, and connecting the families to any needed resources. The Parent Educator is to report to the appointed Program Supervisor.
Qualifications:
Experience working with or providing services to families and children ages 0-5 Experience and willingness to work with culturally diverse populations Ability to establish rapport with families and empower them by building on their strengths Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and possessing key characteristics (e.g., empathetic, conscientious, accepting, ethical) Knowledge of infants and child development Demonstrate strong organizational and record-keeping skills Ability to work independently and be self-motivated (often in the field) Valid driver's license and automobile insurance Bachelor's degree preferred Bilingual (Spanish-speaking) - required
Duties :
The Parent Educator is expected to: Complete PAT Foundational and Model Implementation Trainings Establish trusting relationships with families Engage in recruitment and group connection activities Obtain competency-based professional development and renew parent educator certification annually Actively engage in continuing education trainings offered by agency or state. Any trainings outside of agency or state must be approved by supervisor Participate in reflective supervision with supervisor and staff meetings Develop, monitor and review goals with each family Maintain and submit all required family and program documentation in a timely manner Engage in parent-child interaction activities, and increase knowledge of ways to support children's development Plan, provide, and document personal visits focused on parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting, and family well-being Connect families to resources when needed Provide personal vehicle for travel
