Back to all jobs Social Worker 29-Jun-2026 to Until Filled (CST) Maury County Public Schools Columbia, TN, USA 38002-44071 per year Based on years of experience and education level completed Salary Full Time Medical and dental paid for by MCPS. Vision and supplemental is available as well
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with emphasis in sociology/social work/psychology preferred but not required. Familiarity with K-12 schools and the juvenile court system procedures. Prefer work experience in the juvenile system related to intake, community resources, and parental relations. Prefer experience in rehabilitation, preparing and evaluating reports, coordination, and preparation of plans for transitioning adolescents into community programs and/or institutions. Must have a valid Tennessee driver's license. Prefer fluency in Spanish for translating and interpreting. Demonstrates excellent planning, organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, and time management skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, experience working with multidisciplinary teams. Experience collaborating with community based organizations and other city agencies. Knowledge and experience with computers, including: word processing, databases, and spreadsheets.
Job Overview:
Serves as a court liaison between the the juvenile court system and the school district. Assist with the enforcement of compulsory attendance laws while focusing on addressing the needs of students at elevated risk for being chronically absent.
Job Functions:
Responsible for identifying individual children and target populations in need of services. Work collaboratively with Family Resource Centers to mobilize the resources of the local education agencies and the community to meet the needs of children and families. Develop and implement a plan of intervention that will enhance children's ability to benefit from their educational experience and involves the family, other team members, and school and community resources as appropriate. Maintain adequate safeguards for the privacy and confidentiality of information. Intensive parent/child interactions including home visits. Performs other related duties as required. Attends training, conferences, and workshops as appropriate to enhance job knowledge and skills. Prepares and submits accurate and complete documentation of all assigned cases. Provides translation and interpretation service when applicable. Prepares truancy petitions for court. Assists with District Truancy Hearings and attends/represents district in juvenile court.
