Job Description
The case manager will work closely with the immigrant families at our shelter to make them feel safe and welcome, provide them with the services they need, help them adjust to their new life in the US and support them on their way to self-sufficiency.
Key responsibilities:
Provide case management in either Spanish, French and/or Portuguese to our residents (adults and children) in a variety of areas: access to medical care, enrollment in public benefits, enrollment in school and childcare, legal orientation, housing support, etc.
Participate in daily shelter operations:
take office shifts, lead house meetings, participate in shelter projects (eg. volunteer event), receive new families (welcome people, get the space ready, provide supplies, do intake paperwork), help with move outs (find donations, provide referrals for clients, school transfers, etc.) and miscellaneous tasks.
Program development:
with the rest of the team, continuously work on monitoring, improving and developing our services for residents.
Resource and Partnership management:
work alongside staff to identify resource concerns and engage in outreach to form community partnerships for long-term shelter support.
Qualifications :
Proficiency in Spanish, French or Portuguese is required to be able to communicate directly with our residents; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially with clients across different languages and cultures; Passion for social justice and immigration work - experience working with immigrant communities preferred; Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with keen attention to detail; Openness to working on miscellaneous tasks and projects that are necessary to the functioning of the shelter; Proficiency in Google Suite software.
