Flexible part-time schedule Live Oak Unitarian Universalist Church is seeking a caring, organized, and dependable Nursery & Preschool Childcare Coordinator to oversee our childcare program for infants through age five. This position coordinates childcare staff, helps create a safe and welcoming environment for children, and works closely with the Director of Faith Development to meet the childcare needs of our congregation. This flexible, part-time position is ideal for an experienced childcare professional, preschool teacher, early childhood education student, retired educator, or someone with experience caring for young children who is seeking meaningful work in a supportive community. Schedule Average commitment of 10-15 hours per month . Regular childcare hours are Sundays from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The Coordinator is expected to be onsite 3-4 Sundays per month . The position includes two paid administrative hours per month to coordinate childcare staffing for Sunday mornings, weekday programs, and special events. Additional paid childcare hours for church events may be scheduled as needed. Responsibilities Provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for infants and young children. Schedule and supervise childcare staff for Sunday mornings, church events, and other requested programs. Recruit volunteers or substitute caregivers as needed in collaboration with the Director of Faith Development. Train and support childcare staff in safety procedures, job expectations, and positive guidance techniques. Ensure children are properly signed in and out. Maintain clean, safe, welcoming, and well-stocked childcare spaces. Monitor toys, equipment, and furniture for safety and report maintenance needs. Communicate effectively with families, childcare staff, and church leadership regarding schedules, childcare needs, and concerns. Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and supporting childcare staff. Practice and model a respectful, positive approach to child guidance. Support the mission and values of Unitarian Universalism and participate in required annual safety training. Qualifications Experience caring for infants and young children. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Self-motivated, dependable, and responsive. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to supervise, schedule, and support a team. Commitment to creating an inclusive, welcoming environment for children and families. Previous experience coordinating staff or volunteers is preferred. Additional Information The Coordinator is responsible for logging all hours worked using the church's online timesheet system and ensuring that all paid childcare staff submit their timesheets on time. Payroll is processed monthly.
