POSITION TITLE:
Title I Campus-Family Engagement Liaison
JOB DESCRIPTION
This supplemental position has been approved for the upcoming school year. This position is 100% funded under the ESSA Title I, Part A program and will require time and effort in the form of biannual certification. In the absence of Title I, Part A funds and/or the needs of the district, continuation of this position can be rescinded. Provide support to families of students to ensure family engagement in the educational process and student success. Connect parents to community resources available for students. Provide in school support for students and family to navigate the educational system. DUTIES and
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Family engagement Liaison must spend 90-95% of their day fulfilling the responsibilities defined in the job description or other duties as assigned as related to meeting the intent and purpose of Title I, Part A per TEA guidance. Serve as a liaison between the school and the families of the school. Promote positive parenting throughout the school district and the school community by providing training for parents on strategies to promote student success. Promote family welfare efforts by establishing contact with families and connecting them to available community, school, counseling, and literacy resources. Provide information to parents concerning school district procedures and instructional programs in order to improve home-school communication. Make personal contact with families to encourage family engagement, including home visits, if necessary. Collaborate with school counselors, dropout prevention, and other instructional personnel to reduce grade level retention and ensure academic success. Research, collect, organize and coordinate resource materials and activities to facilitate family engagement in their child's education, under the direction of the principal. Compile and maintain all required compliance documentation and program records (i.e. Title I documentation for parents, program evaluation, travel logs, and expense logs). Coordinate and implement family engagement programs for the campus in collaboration with other campus staff . Coordinate with community agencies to ensure families have information about local resources available. Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment. Effectively communicate with colleagues, students, and parents. Maintain confidentiality. Maintain regular attendance. Perform other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum two years of work in education or related fields with parents, students, and/or community agencies
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge and skill in casework methods Strong consultation skills for conferencing with teachers, families, and students Awareness and ability to access community resources Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
