 26-27 POSITION SUMMARY Provides services to students and families to help students attain maximum benefits from their educational programs. Collaborates with the educational team, parents, and community agencies to facilitate the students' academic, emotional, and social potential. Works toward enhancing and fostering positive relations between the school, community, and parents. Performs casework service to help students resolve personal, emotional, and social problems that interfere with their adjustment to school and their ability to enjoy the benefits of the educational process.
ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES
Develops and implements direct intervention strategies for students, teachers, and families to resolve stressors and remove barriers that interfere with student success. Mobilizes and coordinates community resources for students and families to address academic, behavioral, emotional, and social needs. Assesses needs and counsels students and families individually, in groups, or during home visits regarding needed social, emotional, or developmental adjustments.

Develops and creates strategies for parents, teachers, and students on instructional and behavioral issues. Develops and builds community agency partnerships with service providers to expand resources available to students and families. Provides crisis support and counseling to students, parents, and school staff. Serves as a consultant to school personnel regarding students or situations that are not referred for direct district or outside services. May participate in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee to assist in interpretation of assessment data, appropriate placement, and goal setting for students according to district procedures. Compiles, maintains, and files all reports, records, and other required documents.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Valid Texas license as a baccalaureate social worker (LBSW) or master social worker (LMSW) granted by the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners Education Bachelor's or Master's degree in social work from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program Experience 3 years of experience as a licensed social worker Other Requirements Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district. Ability to work effectively with a diverse student and community population. Ability to effectively utilize computers and applicable software. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district. Ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into focus; judge distance (close and distant); reach with arms extended and use hands to manipulate the keyboard. Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds, stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, twist, bend, climb, and/or be mobile. Ability to travel throughout the district and city by means of private or public transportation. If driving personal (or private) vehicle, must possess a valid driver's license and appropriate insurance coverage. Houston Independent School District is an equal opportunity employer.
